Jansen McEntee III is a Master Carpenter with 40+ years of experience in commercial and residential remodeling.  His love of historic preservation has led him to work on homes as old as the 16th century.  These homes were built to last with hand hewn trees so wood wasn’t dimensional (no standard sizes like 2×4) and he had to learn to trouble shoot many issues.  Bringing these homes up to modern standards taught him attention to detail and insistence in doing the work correctly and now he can come up with a solution for just about any home improvement challenge.

Many small home improvement projects (and some larger ones) can be done by a homeowner.  However, it’s not always as simple as watching a YouTube video and completing your project.  Which materials are right for your exact project?  Is there something in the wall that you don’t know about?  How do you use straight lines and exact measurements when the surface is crooked?  How do you cut something in that weird angle or shape to fit into that space? Do you need a permit to do this work?  So many questions that don’t have answers unless you have an experience guide.  Jansen will do just that.  He will discuss your project with you and help you with a plan for completion.  He can get you started, help you along the way or just checkup to make sure you are on the right path.  It’s up to you.  You will still be completing the project yourself and only paying for a few hours of guidance or some hands-on where needed.  Definitely cheaper than hiring someone to do the entire project!  Check here for more info and to get started.

Remodeling and Home Repair

Some projects are just too complicated and involved for a DIYer.  Most people don’t have time anyway.  Sure, anyone can put spackle on the wall but can you make it look like it wasn’t there and match the current wall exactly?  Jansen can do just that.   In addition to home repair, he can do any kind of remodeling you can dream of.  His specialty is historic preservation and that means he has encountered just about any kind of crooked wall, mismatched lumber, handmade moldings, etc.  Most remodeling isn’t cut and dry and troubleshooting is always necessary.  You can’t learn that from a video! Jansen basically designed his own college degree program in the field.  When he started out in New Jersey, he worked for a variety of trades, each for a few years, so he could learn every aspect of construction.  For at least 10 years, he was employed by high-end builders and worked on some large projects in NJ.  Eventually he started his own company and catered to prominent clients.

Check out the Portfolio page to see some of his work.

Bottom line – if you want a project done correctly and built to last, you need someone who loves what he does, takes pride in his work and has years of experience in a variety of situations!
